Our Story

CachaNova was born out of culture, curiosity, and a bold idea pitched in a Boston College classroom—but its roots run deep in Brazil.

Founder Sophia Gregory grew up spending time in Brazil, and she is deeply connected to its culture through her mom, who was born in Minas Gerais. From family gatherings to nights out, the caipirinha—Brazil’s national cocktail—was always part of the moment. When she finally tried one herself, it wasn’t just the flavor that stuck—it was the feeling of connection, joy, and the spirit of Brazil in every sip—the way a simple drink could bring people together.

But when Sophia returned to the U.S., she noticed something missing. Cachaça, the key ingredient in caipirinhas, was hard to find. And when it came to ready-to-drink options? It was all vodka, tequila, or malt liquor—nothing that captured the flavor, soul, or joy she remembered.

So, she pitched an idea in her Entrepreneurial Management class at Boston College. Nervous but inspired, she shared the vision: a canned cocktail that finally brings Brazilian flavor and energy to the world. Her professor, Doug Shaw, saw the potential. So did her classmates—Kaylin Marshall and Sydney Snyder—who signed on as partners to bring the vision to life.

That’s when CachaNova was born.

Inspired by the caipirinha but crafted for today, CachaNova is a premium, all-natural canned cocktail made with Brazilian cachaça, fresh lime, and cane sugar. It’s bold, tropical, and full of flavor—nothing watered down, nothing artificial. The real thing, but in a can.
